In much the same way our clients began the migration from Solaris and HP/UX to Linux about 10 years ago, clients are looking at more ways to virtualize their infrastructure and move from today’s popular hypervisors to open source solutions. OpenStack-based solutions represent a new opportunity for companies large and small to test the open source waters like they did when Linux gained momentum in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. It took several years for Linux to become mainstream and we are seeing the same thing with OpenStack.
Having seen OpenStack grow and mature over the last 4 years, we believe it is now time for us to invest our technical teams and resources to build an OpenStack practice. We are excited to partner with one of the leading providers of OpenStack solutions, Piston Cloud Computing. Piston shares many of the values that Dasher exemplifies in our business. We both have a passion to apply the correct technical solutions to solve clients’ business problems. Piston has top-notch support and technical staff and they worked closely with our engineering team to spin up a Piston OpenStackTM Private cloud in our demo environment in just a couple of hours – including wiring up hardware! Most of that time was actually spent tracking down a couple of bad NIC ports on one of the cluster nodes.
Piston provides zero downtime upgrades and rapid bare metal to fully functional private cloud deployment.
Piston addresses the biggest hurdle to OpenStack adoption by delivering an OpenStack-based private cloud that is both easy to deploy and manage ongoing. Piston has invested considerable engineering time solving the CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery) problem so that our clients install and maintain an operational OpenStack cluster with as few technical staff as possible. Piston takes the hassle out of managing your OpenStack cluster and lets your team get to work on providing value to your business quickly.
We are very excited to join forces with Piston and are looking forward to a synergistic partnership. Please reach out to us if you would like to learn more about Piston and expanding your OpenStack practice.
